The difference between living outside of God's will and living in the luxury of His presence.
Life can look full and still feel out of order. The calendar can be packed, the phone can stay buzzing, the bills can be paid, and the heart can still feel like it is living in a storm.
Pretty G.H.E.T.T.O., huh?
You can have a beautiful home, a thriving career, a relationship that looks good on social media, and money in the bank, yet still feel empty in places money cannot reach.
And honestly, maybe the problem isn't that we need more. Maybe we've been trying to build a life without consulting the One who gave us life in the first place.
Now, before you ask why I chose G.H.E.T.T.O. for a blog post like this, let me explain. I'm not talking about a neighborhood or financial status. I'm talking about what happens when our lives become spiritually out of order because we're trying to do things our way instead of God's way.
You can live in a mansion and still be spiritually homeless. Whhheeeew!
The difference isn't always what you have. The difference is Who has you.
So, What Does G.H.E.T.T.O. Stand For?

G — Godless Decisions
How many times have we made decisions because they felt good, looked good, or made sense to us, only to deal with consequences we never considered?
We enter relationships because we're lonely, chase opportunities because we're afraid to wait, and force doors open because God's timing doesn't match ours.
And sometimes (actually, MOST of the time) we don't ask God what He thinks until we've already made up our minds.
Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us to trust in the Lord and acknowledge Him in ALL our ways.
Not just when we need help, but in our relationships, finances, careers, and everyday decisions.
We want His blessings but sometimes resist His direction.
H — Hustling Without Hearing Him
We love a productive life! We celebrate the woman who does it all, the entrepreneur who never rests, and the hardworking, blue-collar man. LOL!
But just because you're moving doesn't mean you're moving in the right direction.
Sometimes, we're so busy making things happen in our own little strength that we cannot hear God telling us to slow down, wait, or let something go.
We pray for direction but never get quiet enough to even listen.
Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength.
Everybody is not called to your pace, and every opportunity is not an assignment from God.
E — Entangled in What God Never Assigned
And I OOOP! Sometimes, our exhaustion comes from carrying things God never told us to pick up.
Relationships we're afraid to release. Commitments we accepted because we don't want to disappoint people. Habits we keep because they're familiar.
But availability doesn't always mean beneficial, and familiarity doesn't always mean healthy.
Sometimes obedience looks like establishing boundaries. Sometimes it looks like staying and doing the work.
And more often than not....it means walking away.
We have to seek God for the wisdom to know the difference.
T — Trading Truth for Temporary Satisfaction
Let's be honest. Sometimes, we know what God says, but what we want feels better in the moment.
We choose temporary pleasure over lasting peace, attention over integrity, and relationships over our convictions.
We tell ourselves we'll get back on track later. But later has a way of becoming a lifestyle. (repeated patterns is only a knock away from a transformation, rather good or bad)
Not everything that feels good is good for us. Sometimes, saying no to what we want is how we protect what God is developing within us.
T — Trapped in a Cycle of Disobedience
How many times have we prayed for change but continued making the same choices?
The same unhealthy attachments. The same compromises. The same patterns.
God's grace meets us every single time, but His love also calls us into transformation.
We cannot keep asking God to deliver us from a cycle we refuse to stop reentering.
The good news? We don't have to stay in the ghetto. We can repent, renew our minds, and begin a life of luxury.
Now, THAT'S Luxury!

When we hear luxury, we think about designer bags, beautiful homes, expensive cars, and first-class flights. And there's nothing wrong with enjoying material blessings.
But what if luxury is having peace when life doesn't go according to plan? What if it's sleeping at night with a clear conscience, having the courage to walk away from what isn't good for you, and trusting God even when you don't have all the answers?
What if luxury is being so secure in God that you no longer have to force relationships, chase validation, or compromise your convictions to get what you want?
Living in God's luxury doesn't mean life will always be easy. It means your life has a foundation that circumstances cannot easily shake.
I don't want a life that only looks good. I want a life that is good at its foundation.
I want to make decisions with God, not just ask Him to bless the decisions I've already made.
And I'm learning that the most expensive thing I can do is spend my life forcing what God never assigned me to carry.
So, before asking God to upgrade your lifestyle, ask Him to examine your foundation. Before asking Him to open another door, ask Him to direct your steps.
Because the goal isn't to use God to get a luxurious life. The goal is to discover that life with Him is the greatest luxury of all.
Life without You, Lord? It's G.H.E.T.T.O.
But living in Your will, trusting Your timing, and resting in Your presence?
Now THAT is luxury.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” — Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
